Jorge Guadron obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Nyack College in 1993. Jorge worked in the hospitality industry from 1981 to 1999. Jorge started as a busboy and became general manager of an American cuisine restaurant in Bayville, New York. In 2000, Jorge decided to switch careers and started working as an independent contractor doing marketing for the Bongiorno Law Firm in Mineola. At the same time, Jorge created “Guanaquita” brand, introducing frozen raw pupusas (stuffed corn tortillas) in supermarkets, restaurants, and delis; Guanaquita closed in 2004 due to strict regulations from the federal government that impeded the continuation of the business. In 2002, Jorge founded Guadron International Products, Inc. focusing in marketing services for law and medical offices.
In 2008, Jorge and the then General Consul of El Salvador in Long Island, Oscar Landaverde, founded the Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce of New York (SALCONY). SALCONY produced the Central American Independence Day Parade for 2 years at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) grounds. In 2012, SALCONY became the Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce (SALVACOM) with the intention of a broader, national service. Jorge was the General Secretary and Dimas Escobar, a renowned business owner, the President. With the then General Consul of El Salvador, Dagoberto Torres, and SALVACOM’s President, the chamber created the “Entrepreneurial Walks” program that consisted in visiting Salvadoran owned businesses with the objective to subscribe them to the chamber.
In 2014, Jorge was elected President and jointly with Comité de Damas Latino-Americanas (CODALA) introduced the Annual Family Fun Day during June. Jorge was re-elected President in 2016. In 2017, Jorge invited retired and former General Consul of El Salvador in Long Island and Washington and Minister Counselor to the UN, Dagoberto Torres, to join SALVACOM as its Senior Advisor. With the approval of a new board of directors, Mr. Jerry Wolkoff was chosen as the Central American Independence & Patriot Day Parade’s Grand Marshall and Honorary Member & Benefactor of the chamber. In April of 2018, and with Mr. Torres’ aid, the first Strategic Plan for 2017-2021 was introduced. Jorge founded Long Island Hispanic Events, Inc., a company producing, proposing, developing, and promoting events aimed to the Hispanic community. This year, the Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce and Long Island Hispanic Events will produce the 14th Central American Independence & Patriot Day Parade and Festival.
